Commissioners Fundamentals Trip to Baltimore, Maryland

Recently, Betty Jackson, SMHA RA Vice-President, and Jaqui Jones, SMHA Community Services Director, attended a three-day conference on PHA Commissioners Fundamentals Training. The reason they went was to understand the responsibilities of the Board of Commissioners, and more specifically, how a resident board member represents the resident population by being on that board.

"We learned more than I expected", said Betty Jackson. "I wanted to understand what our resident board member was supposed to do and how our association fit into how we relate to the resident board member. I believe that this is necessary to continue to make progress with the total development of our organization".

Currently, Mark Stevenson and Betty Jackson are researching all materials to present it to the residents.
