Members In ActionResident Leaders Come Back from Detroit with Information!
The SMHA Resident Association planned and underwrote a trip to Detroit, Michigan, for the purpose of attending a national Resident Leadership Seminar, sponsored by the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials. The Resident Association paid for the trip expenses, including food, lodging, and transportation.
A total of 11 residents and 3 staff members participated, for a total of over 65 resident leaders from across the United States.
During the course of the seminar, it became apparent that there were things our association had been doing well and some things we need to work on. One thing was certain, we learned so much more about HUD regulation and housing authority policy. This was a goal of participating in the conference. Several of us met other resident leaders and gleaned much information about what goes on in other resident associations across the country.
The residents that participated in the trip were Ira Jean Clark, Jane Donaldson, Jean Sampsel, Helen Kallika, Tina Popa, Betty Jackson, Michelle Huber, Diane Stevenson and Mark Stevenson.
