Board Overview

Mark Stevenson

On December 14, 2004, Mark Stevenson was voted the second Resident Association Vice President. Before that, Mark faithfully served four years as the Association's first President. Mark has served on several boards and has a varied background in leadership development, legislative research, technologies, and community involvement.

Mark has led the project to create the SMHA Resident Association website, database, premier newsletter, and digital photography projects. In order to be knowledgeable in federal regulations concerning housing authority operations and the recent inclusion of the ever expanding scope of jurisdiction-wide resident councils, Mark has put his skills to work in researching policies and regulatory laws applied by HUD. Mark negotiated the first Memorandum of Understanding with the Stark Metropolitan Housing Authority. The MOU, in turn, became the vehicle to draw down federal funds through the housing authority to the create a Resident Association funds account. The funds have been expended, specifically for the operation of the jurisdiction-wide Resident Association.

Mark continues to use his skills to inspire residents to further involve themselves in the process of standing up for their rights and responsibilities and building a cohesive team that will carry the resident association into years of expanded influence in the community. He chairs several committees, including the website committee and will assist the President, Betty Jackson, in leading and organizing the Association for the future.
